If seasonal marketing efforts have persuaded me of just one thing, it’s that ladies love bath stuff. It seems like I can’t walk into a store without seeing giant cellophane-wrapped baskets of seasonally-themed shower gels and body lotions. Don’t get me wrong: I am actually fully in support of indulging in bath and body products. I collect eco-friendly body scrubs like they’re going out of style, and enjoy regular evening baths scented with lavender in an attempt to curtail my insomnia. But I disavow those holiday-scented gift basket monstrosities. For one thing, who wants to go around smelling like eggnog or candy canes? Plus (and I’m not the only one who feels this way) a pre-made gift basket just feels kind of thoughtless. However, I would certainly accept a gift basket with hand-selected products that appeal to my unique and eclectic tastes. In case anyone reading this (like for instance my husband) is curious, here are some eco-friendly bath products I would be happy to unwrap on Christmas morning:
Lavender and Black Pepper Organic Soap by Skinnyskinny
Bar soap doesn’t have to be utilitarian. Though my husband prefers to stock up on his soaps in bulk, I enjoy a handcrafted artisanal bar with an innovative aroma. This spicy soap has an intoxicating and powerful aroma, but is still gentle on skin. And not only is it crafted from unrefined shea butter and organic oils, it’s also vegan and cruelty-free.
The Hedonist Rich Body Cream by Portico
Like it or not, most people still believe that anyone who cares about sustainability smells like a patchouli-scented hippie. This indulgent body cream proves that even the most eco-conscious person can have a subtlety and elegance to their signature scent. Portico combines natural, organic, and environmentally-responsible ingredients with the delicate, crisp scent of cucumber and grapefruit in this indulgent, high-end body cream. Any classy, eco-fabulous lady would be happy to discover this stocking stuffer on Christmas morning.
Arouse Body Oil by Hellomellow
Apparently women prefer to receive an experience, rather than just a one-time concrete gift around the holidays. And what this gift says to me is that I can get ready to experience a massage from my husband. After a busy holiday of entertaining 15 people (three under the age of three) for gift-opening and dinner, I will certainly need one!
